    There are about 15 public holidays observed in Nigeria every year. Since the number of Christians and Muslims in Nigeria are almost proportional, Christian and Islamic festivals form the majority of public holidays in this country.

    Nigeria celebrates 4 Christian holidays e.g. Good Friday, Easter Monday, Christmas Day, and Boxing Day, as well as 4 Islamic holidays including Ramadan, Mawlid, Eid al-Fitr, and Eid al-Adha.

    The other public holidays in Nigeria are either national commemorations like Independence and Democracy Day or international holidays such as New Year’s Day and Children’s Day.
